What is Yoga? Derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ which means to unite or to integrate is a thousands of years old Indian body of knowledge. Yoga is all about harmonizing the body with the mind and breath through the means of various breathing exercises, yoga poses(asanas) and meditation.
The meaning of the word ‘Yoga’ as given in the Indian scriptures is a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices or disciplines that help to unite with our higher self. Guruji practices and teaches ‘traditional yoga’ and is often heard telling that do not take these exercises as just limited to the body they have a subtle effect on the system which helps one to evolve. There are several schools of Yoga and practices and the most well known type of yoga are Hatha yoga and Raja yoga. Guruji also gives knowledge of specific asanas depending on the condition of the learner and his requirement. While doing Pranayam one should not inhale till one does not really feel the need for breath and similarly one should hold on the breath till the point where one can’t hold on any longer.
